ABOUT KEVIN & HIS OFFICE
When I first meet with a client I'm often required to ask very detailed questions about background and experiences. Since trust is a two way street, I think it's only fair that I share a little about my life with you. I grew up in south Kansas City and went to Bishop O'Hara High School. I went on to earn an undergraduate degree from the Univeristy of Central Missouri in Political Science and I graduated from the University of Missouri Kansas City School of Law in 1992.
In law school my goal was to become a family law attorney and I was very fortunate to be hired by Jack Cochran and went to work at the Cochran Oswald law firm in Blue Springs, Missouri in 1992. Jack is a very well known family law attorney and was my mentor who taught me a great deal about being a family law attorney.
In 1998 I left the Cochran Oswald law firm and started the Law Office of Kevin Hoop and have been operating my own law firm since then, focusing on only family law in both Missouri and Kansas.
As for my family I am a divorced and have two wonderful children.
My law office is in south Kansas City. I have a convenient location just north of 435 & Wornall, off of Ward Parkway where they connect. I am just a mile east of State Line Road, which is the Missouri/Kansas border.
As for my office, I am very fortunate to have two excellent full time employees, Erin Kloth and Erin Ford. My paralegal Erin Kloth has specialized in family law for over 12 years and provides valuable assistance on all of my cases. Erin Kloth graduated from the University of Missouri Kansas City with two degrees, one in Administration of Justice and the second in Psychology. Erin Ford, my legal assistant, went to Missouri Western State University and graduated with a Bachelors in Spanish and then went onto Rockhurst College and received a Master’s in Education. I have two part time legal assistants as well.
I also office with 14 other attorneys in our suite. We are not business partners, rather we share office space. Two of these lawyers also specialize in family law, so we often consult on complex issues we have in these cases. The other lawyers in my suite have a wide range of experience, including areas of the law such as medical malpractice, personal injury, criminal law, tax, corporate/business matters, and estate planning such as wills and probate court work. Often times issues arise in a divorce case that require input from a lawyer outside of the area of family law, so it very convenient to have these lawyers in my office to consult with.
If you have a legal issue outside of the area of family law, please call me as I can refer you to one of the talented lawyers in my suite.
